Prepare for an unforgettable 8-day journey through the breathtaking beauty of the Italian Alps.

Welcome to the heart of the Dolomites, where jagged peaks pierce the sky, and every valley tells a tale of nature’s grandeur. Our meticulously crafted itinerary is a passage through this alpine wonderland, guiding you to the hidden gems and iconic trails that define the Dolomiti experience. From the charm of Val Gardena’s villages to the historic echoes of Santa Croce, each day unfolds a new chapter in your adventure.

Immerse yourself in the rhythm of nature, whether hiking the Sassolungo and Sassopiatto Group, traversing the Viel Del Pan, or savoring the solitude of the Catinaccio area. Our journey is a celebration of both the untamed beauty and the rich histories etched into these mountains.

We'll meet you at Venice Airport this morning, and depart for Ortisei. The valley of Gardena is best known for skiing and rock climbing, and woodcarving which has flourished here since the 17th century. Home to three cultures - Italian, Austrian, and the native Ladin, most signage in Val Gardena is written in three languages - Italian, German, and Ladin!

If you’re keen for a leg stretch after arriving, there’s a chance to explore the Seceda area above Ortisei and see the massive rock spires which are iconic to this mountainous area.

ACCOMMODATION: Hotel Hell, Ortisei
Lunch, Dinner

Today we'll hike the the flank of the Rasciesa Odle mountain group, amply named “needles” in Ladin. From the town of Ortisei, we'll take the Resciesa funicolar to Chalet Resciesa from where we'll start our hike. This trail is predominantly undulating with minimal elevation gain. This allows for spectacular views of this geological marvel.

We'll stop for a drink or a rest at a local Rifugio and admire the jagged north faces of the dramatic Odle Group before descending toward Ortisei by cable-car.

Right after the impressive Sassolungo North Clock Tower spire, we’ll hike right into the heart of the massif to Rifugio Vicenza, a typical Dolomites rifugio and the perfect place to enjoy lunch. After lunch, a green landscape will replace the rocky scenery.

We'll stop for a drink at the cozy Murmeltier Hütte before hiking the section to Rifugio Sassopiato.

From our hotel, we'll hike across the beautiful green Siusi Ridge to reach the Rifugio Alpe di Tires, where we'll take a break.

We'll continue hiking on rocky terrain until we reach Passo del Molignon for unforgettable views of the Alpe di Siusi area.

Often referred to as "Queen of the Dolomites," Marmolada is the highest mountain in this mountain range, and home to its largest glacier. The entire length of this balcony trail is met with incredible views of Marmolada and the Gran Vernel.

We’ll arrive at Rifugio Gorza where there’s a chance to have lunch before hiking to Arabba where we’ll drive a short distance to Alta Badia, our home for next two evenings.

A good guide makes a trip great - a first class guide creates memories that last lifetime. You'll experience your trip with a leadership team who are local, experienced and know more than simple where to go and what to ride. We make sure our trip leaders are engaging, pro-active, passionate, can read the room and are simply a whole lot of fun to be around.

All our guides are trained in wilderness first aid and experienced in incident management in remote areas.

We understand the importance of a good nights rest – especially on a trek like this. We have carefully chosen locally owned lodgings in the most beautiful areas of the Dolomites.
